October 5 is World Teachers’ Day.

The theme for World Teachers Day 2021, as selected by UNESCO, is: “Teachers at the heart of education recovery”. This year, we celebrate the teachers who have demonstrated incredible adaptability and commitment to supporting student learning as they have worked through the shifting realities of the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, we recognize the many contributions made by teachers throughout the world and within our own Region.

This morning, our 64,000 students across Waterloo Region started their school day excited and ready to learn. Whether our students’ started their day in-person wearing a mask or online through a device at home, each of our classrooms has a caring educator standing in front of a class of students or on-screen, ready to start another day of discovery, growing and learning; together.

Thank you for all you do for our students! We want to wish all of our teachers and educators a Happy World Teachers’ Day. Your dedication each day provides inspiration and fosters growth for our students and our community. Your tireless efforts continue to provide welcoming and supportive learning environments for all of our students.

We invite our community to show your appreciation for our teachers who go the extra mile, inspire confidence and success in each student, and make your child smile each and every day on social media by using the #WorldTeachersDay hashtag and tagging @wrdsb on Twitter or @wr_dsb on Instagram.
