Dear Stewart Avenue families,

As you may have heard through the news or on our website yesterday, unfortunately families will not be able to find out their child’s class and teacher through School Day this weekend. We are very sorry for the situation.

On the first day of school, we will have staff outside in different locations with class lists to help families determine their child’s class. Please read below to find detailed information regarding our processes for each grade level.

Kindergarten
– Students in Class K1 will be coming to the front door of the school for entry.
– Students in Class K2 will be going to the fenced area to meet their teacher.
– Students in Class K3 will be going to the side Kindergarten entry door (by the bike racks) to meet their teacher.
– We have contacted all new JK student families already and will be contacting SK families over the weekend with their class information.

Grades 1 – 3
– In the primary field/playground area, there will be one staff member for each grade level with class lists – and there will be signs directing you to the correct grade level staff member. Please check with the staff member to determine which class your child is in.
– Once you know the grade level, homeroom teachers will be lining up with their class on the primary tarmac area. You can take your child to the correct class line and connect with the homeroom teacher there.
– All of our staff members will be wearing red Stewart Avenue shirts. Please speak with any staff member if you need assistance.

Grades 4 – 6
– In the soccer field at the back of the school, there will be one staff member for each grade level with class lists – and there will be signs directing you to the correct grade level staff member. Please check with the staff member to determine which class your child is in.
– Once you know the grade level, homeroom teachers will be lining up with their class in front of the portapack area at the back of the school. Your child can go to the correct class line and connect with the homeroom teacher there.
– All of our staff members will be wearing red Stewart Avenue shirts. Please speak with any staff member if you need assistance.

Grades 7 & 8
– All intermediate students will meet by the basketball court area at the back of the school.
– At the bell, Grade 7 and 8 students will be entering the gym for a short assembly and homeroom teachers will coordinate the students and classes from there.

Bus Riders and Extended Day Students
For our bus students and students in Extended Day before school, we will also have additional staff to ensure students get to the correct classes. Students will not need to know which class they are in before riding the bus or starting Extended Day.

We know the first day of school will be an exciting one for our students and staff and we can’t wait to get the school year started. We are really looking forward to seeing your child on Tuesday!

Have a wonderful long weekend!
